Why you'd want to live in Indian Trail
Indian Trail is a residential neighborhood located in the northwestern part of Spokane, Washington. The area is divided into two main sections: North Indian Trail and Balboa/South Indian Trail. North Indian Trail lies in the northwesternmost corner of Spokane, extending along a tableland east of the Spokane River and west of the Five Mile Prairie. The neighborhood's name originates from a centuries-old trail that passed through the area, historically used by the Spokane people and later by European settlers. Development in North Indian Trail began in earnest during the 1970s, transitioning from rural landscapes to suburban housing. As of 2017, the neighborhood had a population of 7,577 residents. The area features a mix of single-family homes, duplexes, and apartment dwellings. A shopping complex at the intersection of Indian Trail Road and Barnes Road serves the community, providing convenient access to retail and dining options. Balboa/South Indian Trail is situated just south of North Indian Trail and shares a similar suburban character. The neighborhood is largely composed of single-family residential areas developed after annexation into the city in the 1950s. It is characterized by gently sloping land with two steep bluffs along its edges, providing scenic views of the surrounding area. As of 2017, Balboa/South Indian Trail had a population of 5,645 residents. Both neighborhoods are known for their family-friendly environments, featuring tree-lined streets and proximity to natural landscapes. They offer residents a suburban lifestyle with convenient access to the amenities of Spokane.
